Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival - Glen Waverley

On Sunday 8th February 2009, the Monash Chinese Events Organising Committee Inc has organised a street festival in Kingsway to celebrate the end ot the Chinese New Year Festivities.  The event will commence at 12:30pm with the Khuan Yee Lion Dance Association performing on 'Jongs' (poles), followed by lion dancing from both Khuan Yee and Hong De lion dancers for the whole day in Kingsway, Springvale Road and Coleman Parade.  The event will end with a lantern parade at dusk.  More details will be posted when confirmed.

Please come along and enjoy the specialty delicacies and lion dance performances - a perfect way to end the Chinese New Year Festival!

Councillor Ken Ong

Hong De Lion Dance would like to congratulate Ken Ong on his victory on the weekend.  It will be nice to see a familiar face on the Melbourne City Council.  Well done in a very sucessful campaign!

Sponsor a Lion?

If you are planning to book us for a performance, why not sponsor a lion and get the first performance free?  A lion can be custom made with your company logo on the head of the lion.  A sponsor will have rights to the first performance of the new lion with a dotting ceremony and advertisements with website links on our website.  Please email us if you are interested in sponsoring a lion.

Chinese New Year 2009

Chinese Lunar Year (the year of the Ox) is on Monday 26th January 2009.  We are taking bookings for on a first-come-first-served basis.  Please book early to secure your preferred dates.  Some of our regular clients have already booked our lions for performances next year.  Traditionally, the Chinese New Year celebrations last for 15 days (until Monday 9th February).  This will be the busiest time for all lion dance teams around the world!

For details of what we can provide, please visit our Bookings page or email us at admin@HongDeLion.com.au.  Please note we need at least 2 weeks notice to process paperwork for firecracker notifications.
