Introducing the Art of Chinese Dragon Dance
In April 2013, our Association is pleased to announce the introduction of Dragon Dance. We are very honoured to have Dragon Master, Sifu Ting Wan Kee from Singapore Dragon & Lion Dance Association to coach us Fuzhou Style Dragon Dance. Sifu Ting Wan Kee learnt Fuzhou Dragon Dance from his Father who brought the art from China to Singapore and founded Singapore Dragon & Lion Dance Association in 1959. The dragon chases a pearl during the performance accompanied by traditional Chinese music. The musical instruments include a drum, cymbals and gongs and sounds not too different to traditional Chinese Peking opera music. Different moves of the dragon dance is synchronised with the music. Our dragon can become luminous under black UV lighting and we also have a new LED dragon - both look fantastic for Corporate events or Festivals. Some photos can be found below:
